Conver C625H Amphibian Dredger: At home in all climates
Publicatie: 09-12-2008
Last month two Conver C625H Amphibian Dredgers have been taken into service: One in tropical Africa and the second in a cold and snowy Germany. Although the machines have a similar basis, there are a few important differences. Especially the application.
Senegal, Western-Africa, has a big network of irrigation canals. To further boost and improve agriculture in certain parts of the country, this network is being expanded. The flow capacity of the system is threatened annually because of the excessive growth of invasive vegetation. The necessity to remove this vegetation on a structural basis in combination with the need for regular small scale maintenance dredging, a local contractor, burdened with the maintenance and expansion of the irrigation system, has ordered a standard C625H with our French dealer GC-Distribution.
The machine is executed with a Quick Release Connector, which makes it possible to exchange the dredging bucket to a weed fork or another attachment in minutes. The amphibian has the facilities for the use of a hydraulic dredgepump with cutter. The dozer blade on the front can be used to push harvested vegetation or sand out of the water, level an embankment or remove silt.
To protect the operator against the blazing African sun the machine is fitted with a sunroof.
Germany, Western-Europe, still has a large number of open pit mines. Due to the exploitation and the composition of the soil embankments of some former mines have become very unstable, resulting in embankments collapsing. Large areas of surrounding forest have landslided into the flooded pits. By stabilizing the embankments this form of erosion is prevented.
For this application one C625H has been stripped of its’ excavator arm and dozer blade and fitted with a set of support frames turning the machine into a tool carrier for a special system from the German company RAVI Bau-Vibriermaschinen GmbH. On the front a frame with 12 vibrators is located, balanced out by means of the generator which is mounted on a support frame on the rear. Additional buoyancy tanks are fitted to allow for safe and stable operation while afloat. Two support legs prevent the machine being pulled under when the 12 vibrators are retracted from the ground.
The Conver C625H was chosen for this extraordinary application because of its’ amphibious capabilities, its large carrying capacity of the durable tracked undercarriage and the double auger propulsion.
